Skiing in Barrie
There are several ski hills to choose from. Snow Valley, located just north of Barrie was named "best Ontario hill for kids" by Ski Canada Magazine. Horseshoe Resort and Mount St Louis Moonstone are also close by and very popular.
Whether you are an advanced boarder or just beginning, many of the ski hills offer snowboarding lessons.
Snow Valley offers plenty of things to do in Barrie. They are well known for snow tubing. This is clearly a unique activity that is very well known to many families in Barrie. There is a snow tube rope tow, lots of lanes - many are very large. No equipment needed as they provide everything required.
In the winter on Kempenfelt bay you will notice plenty of huts. Ice fishing in Barrie is a big activity during the winter. There are several places to rent the huts, so give it a try…you just may get hooked!
There are 100’s of kilometres of snowmobiling trails around Barrie. Refer to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs website for more information on trail conditions and maps.
There are many Simcoe Forests that are ideal for snowshoeing. Hardwood Ski and Bike has plenty of trails and welcome snowshoeing.
Skating is available free at City Hall. There are plenty of public skating rinks: Allandale Recreation Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre, Holly Recreation Centre, and more.
